Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Observation Unit (Chest Pain/Critical Decision) position in Marquette, MI, requiring at least 1 year of med/surg experience and night shift availability.
Details
- Work in a 10-bed Observation Unit (Chest Pain/Critical Decision) within a 225-bed specialty care hospital
- Adult-only patient population (18+ years) presenting with observation-status conditions such as chest pain, TIA, asthma exacerbation, DVT/PE, abdominal pain, cellulitis, blood sugar issues, and post-procedural monitoring
- Approximate patient ratio of 1:5 (no defined ratios)
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts
- Schedule includes a mix of day and night shifts (5 days/5 nights per pay period)
- Weekends required; holiday coverage required
- Floating required to Medical, Cardiac, and Neuro-Ortho Units
- No on-call or mandated call requirements
- Cardiac monitor equipment used
- Charting in Cerner EMR
- Observation Unit is supervised by the ED Director
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active MI RN license required
- AHA certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale competency required
- Telemetry/ECG competency required
- TNCC and ENPC certifications preferred
- Minimum 1 year of med/surg experience required
- Telemetry experience preferred
- BSN preferred
- Social Security number required for consideration
- Date of birth required for consideration
- Must reside 60+ miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
Additional Information
- Provide nursing care to adult observation patients across a broad range of diagnoses and post-procedural monitoring needs
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Galaxy blue scrubs required
- Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Candidates may not be employed full-time elsewhere during the assignment
- Orientation is conducted on a bi-weekly schedule
- The hospital is a Level II Trauma Center located in Marquette, MI — the largest community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, home to Northern Michigan University
- The facility offers a wide range of specialty services including Heart & Vascular, Cancer Care, Brain & Spine, Rehab, Behavioral Health, Digestive Health, Bariatrics, Women's Health, and Pediatrics
