Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC) travel assignment in Weston, WI, requiring telemetry and drip titration experience with ACLS and BLS certifications.
Details
- Acute care stepdown/PCU unit in a hospital setting with 30 beds
- Patient population includes cardiac, NSTEMI, post-cath lab, A-fib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with potential stretch to 1:5 during sick calls or with added CNA support
- CNA support available at a ratio of approximately 1:10–12 depending on census
- Telemetry tech on unit reads strips; GE monitors are used
- RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
- Charge RNs carry a reduced assignment of 2 patients
- 12-hour variable day (7a–7p) and night (7p–7a) shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- No self-scheduling; agency staff typically placed as variable or straight nights
- On-call/standby requirement
- Floating required to MS or IMC overflow in ICU
- Charting in Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
Requirements
- Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
- Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Completion of an EKG course required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Experience with IV drip titration including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
- Experience managing IV medications such as nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone required
- 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years in the same specialty
Additional Information
- RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
- Post-cath lab experience is beneficial; arterial line experience is appreciated but not required
- BSN is not required for this position
- Unit-specific orientation is up to 3 days
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date, and hospital approval is required
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which affects the travel pay rate
