Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring at least 3 years of OR experience and Cerner proficiency.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital setting with a high-volume OR consisting of 21 rooms and an average daily census of 70–80
  • Operating Room Core 3 & 4 covering General, Plastic, GYN, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Ortho, GU, Colorectal, and Robotics cases
  • Circulating required; scrub preferred — candidates should be well-rounded across most specialties (CV and Transplant excluded)
  • Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (7:00–17:30)
  • On-call required, approximately 40–60 hours per 6-week period (subject to variation)
  • Holiday coverage required — must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility based on patient care needs
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • Free parking available

Requirements

  • Active IN or Compact RN license required; pending license (IN, Compact, or temporary) accepted if in hand by start date
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Minimum 3 years of OR RN experience required
  • Level I Trauma OR experience required
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Ability to circulate required; scrub experience preferred
  • RN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
  • 2 supervisor references required for consideration
  • SSN and date of birth required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Indiana residents are considered local candidates and are eligible for this position at a adjusted pay package
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have a 12-month separation before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health must take a consecutive break before being eligible again — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break, both prior to reaching the 12-month mark
  • Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
