Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist with 2+ years of experience and required Siemens FORCE scanner proficiency for a fast-paced emergency department weekend position.

Details

  • Position is based in an emergency department CT environment handling routine ED patients, Code Stroke, and trauma cases
  • Patient population spans infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Daily caseload of 150–200 scans across 4 rooms; individual tech caseload is approximately 8–12 patients per 8-hour shift
  • CT procedures include abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CTAs, and multiplanar reconstruction
  • Primary equipment includes a Siemens FORCE scanner and GE scanner
  • EMR system is Epic; Visage is used for imaging
  • Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 7:45 AM – 8:15 PM
  • No call or float requirements
  • Local candidates are accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of CT technologist experience required
  • Experience in inpatient, ER, and adult ICU settings required
  • Hands-on experience with a Siemens FORCE scanner is required — candidates without this experience will not be considered
  • CT procedure experience required: abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CTAs, and multiplanar reconstruction
  • Some trauma experience required
  • Current BLS and ARRT(R)(CT) certifications required; license required if applicable
  • Outpatient experience, IV starts, PACS, contrast administration, and Visage experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Additional Information

  • The ED CT environment is very fast-paced, with staffing of 4–5 techs on first shift, 2–3 techs after 5 PM, and 1 tech on third shift; weekends are staffed with 2 techs
  • Weekly orientation is held; travelers must be fully available with no other commitments during the first week, as missing any portion of orientation may result in a delayed or canceled start
  • The final start date is confirmed the Tuesday prior to the start week; travelers may begin on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week
  • Pre-start modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must be completed annually; modules are conducted via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes
  • No RTO is allowed during orientation week; up to 7 days of RTO may be approved during the assignment as long as it does not fall on a holiday, and no RTO is permitted on weekends
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Previous permanent, PRN, or EP staff employees of this health system must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12–24 months are strongly preferred; pending references are accepted at time of consideration but required before the assignment start
  • Royal blue scrubs are required
  • Travel pairs are permitted provided each candidate has their own transportation and is comfortable with potentially different schedules
