Description
American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with a minimum of 2 years of experience for a 13-week day shift contract at an acute care hospital in Virginia.
Details
- Inpatient respiratory therapy unit within an acute care hospital setting
- Adult critical care, emergency department, and general respiratory patient populations
- Pediatric and neonatal patients may also be encountered
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Epic EMR is required; all travelers must complete an Epic orientation class prior to starting
- Floating, if required, is done in rotation with facility staff in accordance with Joint Commission standards
Requirements
- Graduate of an NBRC-approved Respiratory Care program required
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
- Active Virginia Respiratory Therapy license required at time of consideration; license required if applicable
- CRT certification required
- RRT certification required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Driver's license and Social Security card required
Additional Information
- Administer respiratory therapy treatments including aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, ventilator management, airway management, and pulmonary function testing
- Experience with a broad range of medication delivery systems and respiratory medications is highly valued
- Proficiency in ventilator management (BiPAP, CPAP, IMV/SIMV, high-frequency ventilators) and weaning from mechanical ventilation is beneficial
- Charge or lead experience is preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and trauma experience are all preferred
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as staff must wait one year before returning as a traveler
- RTO requests should be kept to a minimum; all RTO must be submitted upfront and is approved at manager discretion — no RTO will be approved after an offer is made
- Some holiday coverage is expected
- Up to 7 hours of non-billable orientation modules are required, completed during the initial orientation period
- Flu vaccine is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); exemption requests must comply with CMS guidelines
- This is a smoke- and nicotine-free facility
