Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a day shift travel assignment requiring telemetry skills, Epic experience, and an active SC or Compact RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Medical Surgical unit with 34 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with potential flex to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
• Every other weekend required
• PRN low census on-call required
• Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required
• Charting via Epic
• Patient care involves telemetry monitoring, insulin management, and rapid response situations

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have an active license prior to start
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
• ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, insulin administration, and rapid response protocols required
• SSN and valid Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; candidates within 60 miles are not accepted for this position

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Onboarding modules must be completed prior to start date
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking is available on-site
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties
