Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a day shift travel assignment requiring telemetry skills, Epic experience, and an active SC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Inpatient Medical Surgical unit with 34 staffed beds
- Day shift schedule: 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6, with potential flex to 1:7 during unplanned staffing shortages
- Every other weekend required
- PRN low census on-call required
- Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required
- Charting via Epic
- Patient care involves telemetry monitoring, insulin management, and rapid response situations
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must have an active license prior to start
- Current BLS certification required (AHA only)
- ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications preferred (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, insulin administration, and rapid response protocols required
- SSN and valid Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; candidates within 60 miles are not accepted for this position
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
- Onboarding modules must be completed prior to start date
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Free parking is available on-site
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, with peak activity in August and September), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties
