Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma center in Springfield, IL, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR experience across multiple surgical service lines.
Details
- Work setting is a 562-bed acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma center
- Assignment is in a 23-room Operating Room department covering multiple surgical service lines (excludes CV)
- Day shift schedule: 4x10s, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
- One weekend shift required per month
- On-call required approximately once per week
- Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
- Charting is performed in Cerner (experience preferred)
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Free parking is available with a permit obtained during orientation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
- Active BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
- CNOR certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of OR experience required
- Level I trauma center experience required
- General OR and trauma experience required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Required surgical case experience spans Bariatric (laparoscopic assisted), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, and others), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedics (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, open/closed fracture reduction), Plastic Surgery (free flap/microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), and Trauma (amputations, GSW/stab wounds, MVA with multiple injuries)
- Required equipment experience includes electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables
- Required clinical skills include administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time out), urinary bladder catheterization, code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- All requested time off is subject to manager review and approval
- Block scheduling is not available for this position
