Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN Circulator for a 13-week travel assignment at a community hospital in Carlsbad, NM, requiring 2+ years of OR experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including robotics.
Details
- Work setting is a 99-bed community hospital with 6 operating rooms
- Approximately 250 surgical procedures performed per month
- Patient ratio is 1:1
- Surgical specialties include general, orthopedic, OB/GYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and DaVinci robotic-assisted surgery
- Both adult and pediatric patient populations
- Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- On-call is required: minimum one weekday per week (3:30 PM–7:00 AM) plus weekend rotation (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
Requirements
- Active NM RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — none may expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR RN experience required
- Experience across multiple surgical specialties: general, ortho, OB/GYN, podiatry, plastics, endoscopy, trauma, and DaVinci robotics
- Both adult and pediatric surgical experience required
- Valid driver's license required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include circulating, ensuring surgical supplies are prepared, maintaining timeliness of cases, communicating with patient families, updating physician preference cards, scrubbing and assisting during surgical cases, and supervising personnel delivering patient care
- Works collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR techs, and other surgical team members in accordance with State Nurse Practice Act, AORN, and regulatory standards
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local travelers
- RTO requests must be for less than one week in duration
- Candidates who have worked at any CHS facility as permanent staff within the past 2 years are not eligible for this position
