Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) for a day shift Cardiopulmonary Services position at a UNC Health Care System facility, performing a broad range of respiratory and advanced practice procedures.

• Cardiopulmonary Services department within a hospital setting
• Day shift, 7:00am – 7:00pm
• 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Weekend work required: 5 weekend days per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required on an every-other-weekend basis
• No on-call requirement for standard assignment, though duties may occasionally include on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• EMR documentation required

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
• Current CRT or RRT certification required
• NC Respiratory Care Practitioner license required (license required if applicable)
• BLS certification required
• Experience with ventilator care, specialized ventilator modes, and weaning techniques
• Proficiency in airway management including tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations, and extubations
• Skill in arterial punctures, arterial cannulation, ABG analysis, and patient monitoring
• Experience with UAC/UVC insertion, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and blood glucose monitoring
• Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Administer standard respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, bedside pulmonary function testing, and breathing exercises
• Perform all aspects of ventilator management, including setup, specialized mode selection, patient monitoring, and weaning
• May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals and perform advanced practice procedures per Air Care protocol
• May manage extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory support
• May perform Pulmonary Function Testing as needed
• Serves as a resource to physicians, staff, and students; may assist in training new staff and provide in-services
• May assume Charge Therapist responsibilities based on experience
• Background check and drug screen required prior to start; candidates should report to the lab for drug screening within 24 hours of committing to the assignment
