Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center in Charleston, SC, with on-call requirements and scrub experience strongly preferred.
Details
- Work in the Main OR of a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
- 21 OR suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
- Nursing team consists of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
- Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- On-call required: up to 4 call shifts every 4 weeks
- Weekend requirement: up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks
- Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required to meet facility needs
- Charting performed in Epic
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact/Multi-State RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS
- Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
- Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience strongly preferred
- Level I Trauma center experience required
- Scrub experience strongly preferred
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs are responsible for both scrubbing and circulating surgical procedures across a wide range of specialties
- The OR is a busy, nurse-driven department utilizing cutting-edge surgical technology
- Facility-provided scrubs
- Orientation modules are completed prior to start date (approximately 4 hours)
- At least one holiday period is required: Christmas (Dec. 24–26) or New Year's (Dec. 31–Jan. 1)
- All RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration and are subject to facility approval
- First-time travelers are accepted depending on position requirements
- Candidates who were previously permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- Non-local candidates are prioritized; local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response duties; peak activity occurs in August and September
