Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Medical Surgical / Telemetry night shift position in Fort Wayne, IN, requiring at least 2 years of experience and expertise in neuro assessments.

Details

• Night shift position, 7p-7a (19:00–07:00)
• 13-week contract
• Works every other weekend
• Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes stroke, seizures, post-op neuro surgeries, Level 2 trauma, Level 1 trauma post-ICU, DKA, renal failure, and general post-op cases
• Patient ratio of 5:1 or 6:1
• Floating required to other med-surg/telemetry units
• No block scheduling available

Requirements

• Active IN RN license or a valid compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• NIHSS certification required (may be obtained during the first week of orientation)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in telemetry or neuro med-surg required
• Expertise in neuro assessments, drain management, and post-surgical care required
• Strong critical thinking skills required
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include caring for higher-acuity med-surg patients with neurological, post-surgical, and trauma diagnoses
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Candidates who have worked as permanent staff at any CHS facility within the past 2 years are not eligible
• RTO requests must be less than one week in duration
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the contract start date
