Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Level III/IV NICU RN for a night shift travel assignment requiring an active OH or compact RN license and extensive floating flexibility across multiple campuses.
Details
- NICU setting within a children's hospital
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Floats to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units as needed
- Floats to BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU with average patient length of stay of 2-3 years, requiring comfort with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
- May float to additional specialties including CVPICU, PICU, MS, and rarely ED
- May float to other campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
- Epic charting system required
- Patient population includes neonates ranging from under 24-28 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license required, in hand
- BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- 2 professional references required at time of consideration, at least one from a manager or supervisor
- Proficiency required in a wide range of NICU skills including IV therapy, arterial line management, UAC/UVC care, ventilator management, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, therapeutic hypothermia, and neonatal abstinence syndrome required
- Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, high frequency ventilation, and tracheostomy care/management required
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates across a wide range of gestational ages and conditions
- Responsibilities include high-risk delivery attendance, respiratory management, medication administration, and neurologic monitoring
- Floating to other units and campuses is a strong point of emphasis for this facility and travelers must be prepared to float regularly
- Candidates cannot have worked in a permanent role at this health system within the last 2 years
- Local candidates are not permitted within a 60-mile radius
- Interview process includes an initial screening with the Float Pool Leader followed by a possible second interview with the NICU unit manager
- First-time travelers are not typically considered given the experience requirements for this role
