Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry position on a Surgical Acute unit at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring at least 2 years of telemetry experience and Level 1 trauma background.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting on a Surgical Acute Telemetry unit (Tower 8)
  • 30-bed unit serving trauma, orthopedic, and surgical patients, including post-op transplants, Whipple procedures, spine, and ortho joint cases
  • Patient ratio of 1:4-5
  • Philips telemetry monitoring equipment used; ventilatory support includes BiPAP and CPAP
  • Charting via Cerner EMR
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week period
  • Holiday coverage integrated into permanent staff rotation
  • Floating required to Observation, VMU, T6, T5, 6N, 5N, and other Med/Surg and Telemetry units
  • SWAT RN (IV Team), RT, and Pharmacy available 24/7

Requirements

  • Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry (tele) nursing experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
  • Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Common patient diagnoses include post-op transplants (day 1), Whipple procedures, spine surgeries, and orthopedic joint cases — the unit has a notably high volume of transplant and Whipple patients
  • Unit is supported by a Charge RN who does not take patients, plus nurse aides (2 on days, 1 on nights)
  • Floor-specific orientation is 2 shifts
  • Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; two attempts are allowed
  • A pass/fail SIMs Lab is conducted on Day 1 of orientation, covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes — nurses have been dismissed for breaking sterile field, so strong sterile technique competency is essential
  • Orientation also includes educational components on lifts, restraints, and wound care
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Natural hair color and no facial piercings required; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
  • Travel nurses are required to have their own personal vehicle
  • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
American Traveler Job ID #P-724786. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined. Posted job title: Travel RN - Telemetry
