Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for a Medical Oncology position in Hawaii, requiring active HI RN licensure and a minimum of 3 years of experience with chemotherapy administration and Epic EMR proficiency.
Details
- Medical Oncology outpatient-style unit with 18 semi-private bays
- Patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal, and non-chemotherapy injections
- Proficiency in Epic EMR is required
- Day shift schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license currently in hand
- Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Competency in chemotherapy administration, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy required
- Experience accessing and caring for port-a-caths, PICCs, and Hickman catheters required
- Skills required include venipuncture, PICC and Hickman dressing changes, and lab draws via central access devices
- Knowledge of proper handling, administration, and disposal of hazardous drugs and appropriate PPE use required
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include independently administering a variety of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections per provider orders
- Responsible for verifying informed consent prior to chemotherapy administration
- Monitors and documents IV therapies, patient responses, and communicates unusual occurrences to the Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner
- Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers on medications, treatments, side effects, disease process, nutrition, and activity adjustments
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of the assignment — this appointment is scheduled at Hilo Employee Health and attendance is mandatory
- Travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date in order to report to Employee Health on Friday morning
