Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Hilo, Hawaii, requiring a minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience and an active Hawaii RN license by start of assignment.
Details
- Hospital-based medical unit with 50 beds
- Adult patient population (18 and over) receiving med/surg level care
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- May float to surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units
- Equipment includes Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes
- Variable shift schedule with day or night shift availability (TBD); must be flexible with various shift lengths and days
- 36 hours per week following the first full week of orientation
- 15-week contract
Requirements
- Active Hawaii (HI) RN license required by start of assignment — candidates without an active HI license must apply upon acceptance of offer
- Minimum 2 years of med/surg or higher level of care experience
- BLS/BCLS required; ACLS preferred
Additional Information
- Provide med/surg level nursing care to adult patients, including wound vac and chest tube management
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of assignment; travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start date to attend a Friday Employee Health appointment
- Orientation program included in the first week of the assignment
- No holiday RTO requests will be accepted
- Professional nursing attire required; no specific scrub color requirement; closed-toe shoes required
