Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed acuity MS/Tele position requiring solid neuro experience and Cerner proficiency at a short-term acute care hospital in Indiana.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital with 194 staffed beds
- Mixed acuity unit serving both Medical/Surgical and Progressive Care (PCU) level patients
- Specialty patient populations include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary
- MS patient ratio is 1:5-6; PCU patient ratio is 1:3-4
- Patients include unstable strokes and those requiring BiPap
- Drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin; procedures include post-heart cath and post-pacemaker care
- Charting via Cerner (experience required)
- Day shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (6:00–18:30)
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
- Free parking on-site
Requirements
- Active Indiana (in-state) or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licensure is not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA and RQI formats accepted)
- Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
- Solid neuro nursing experience required
- MS/Tele or PCU background required
- Cerner EMR experience required
- RN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care across medical/surgical and progressive care levels in a dynamic mixed acuity environment
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
- Any previous permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have been away for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
