Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Academic Medical Center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience with triage skills and night shift availability.

Details

  • Short-term acute care hospital with 1,567 staffed beds at a Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center
  • Emergency Department setting with an average patient ratio of 1:6 on days, nights, and weekends
  • Position is primarily scheduled as Triage Nurse, with the opportunity to train in the clinical space based on department scheduling needs
  • Travelers are assigned to one campus with the possibility of rotating to other campuses, including ED observation
  • Travelers are not assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage (outside of primary triage role), or locked behavioral health units
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call required
  • Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
  • Block scheduling can be accommodated
  • Charting via Epic
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active CT or Compact RN license required
  • Nurses with priors on their nursing license are not eligible for this position
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and TNCC
  • Minimum 3 years of overall RN experience required, with at least 2 years of walk-in/waiting room triage experience
  • Trauma center experience at a large facility required
  • Triage skills required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration
  • Flu vaccine required; declinations are not accepted
  • COVID vaccine required; religious or medical exemptions accepted

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
  • Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for a travel assignment; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent staff of this health system must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
  • RTO of up to 7 days can be auto-approved; RTO exceeding 7 days requires manager approval
  • If a weekend shift is missed, it will be rescheduled as a makeup shift on another weekend within the following 6-week scheduling period
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as required by the facility
  • Parking is available at a cost of $125/month
