Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a mixed ICU position requiring a minimum of one prior travel assignment, Epic proficiency, and TNCC certification, working 12-hour night shifts at 48 hours per week.
Details
- Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
- Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma diagnoses such as ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
- Cardiac experience (CABG/TAVR, 24–48 hrs post-op) is preferred but not required
- Patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 (rare), depending on acuity
- Charting via Epic (required); Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell also in use
- 12-hour night shifts at 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating to adult floors (including Med/Surg and Tele at a 1:4 ratio) is uncommon but possible when overstaffed
Requirements
- Active RN license — SD license or compact license with SD privilege required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC must be obtained prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (excluding travel experience) strongly preferred; candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience plus significant RN experience outside the ICU may be considered
- At least one prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Epic experience required
- Proficiency with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
- Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
- Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
- Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
- DOB and SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides critical care nursing to a high-acuity, mixed ICU population with a heavy trauma volume
- Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing dependent), respiratory therapy available 24/7, phlebotomy for peripheral draws, and robust physician coverage (3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights, plus an APP on nights)
- Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift and one 8-hour shift on the ICU unit, plus hospital orientation
- No RTO is permitted during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August)
- Time off requests of up to 7 days may be approved, provided the full 13-week contract can be completed
- Former permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Navy scrubs required
