Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Long Term Acute Care position on a Medically Complex Rehabilitation Unit, caring for a complex patient population including vented patients, with cardiac monitoring and every-other-weekend requirements.

Details

• Work setting is a Medical Rehabilitation Unit (MRU) / Complex Medical Unit (CMU) in a hospital — a medically complex environment, not a traditional Med/Surg floor
• Primary patient population includes LVAD, CVA, ABI, SCI, wounds, CAPD, and ventilated patients
• Cardiac monitoring is in use on the unit
• Patient ratios are 1:7 on day/evening shifts and 1:9 on nights
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend is required
• Floating between the MRU and CMU sister acute care units is required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CT state or Compact) currently in hand
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 1–2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Experience with respiratory and/or ventilated patients strongly preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred

Additional Information

• Nurses are responsible for IV starts, IV drips, blood administration, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing changes, and wound measurements
• Respiratory therapists (RTs) manage ventilators — nurses do not
• Local candidates are accepted for this position
• Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate
