Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for an acute care hospital position requiring a minimum of 3 years of circulator experience and availability for rotating call shifts with a 30-minute response time.

Details

• Works in a 12-suite OR within an acute care hospital setting
• Common case types include general surgery, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ophthalmology, vascular, and plastic surgery
• Averages approximately 30 cases per day
• Works alongside OR techs and has RN charge coverage each shift with a nursing supervisor on duty 24/7
• Primary EMR is Meditech (Epic is also listed in system)
• Day shifts with 12-hour shift lengths, with some 10-hour day assignments
• Evening, night, and weekend call is required on a rotating basis; call shifts are 8 hours
• Must be available within 30 minutes for call response
• No self-scheduling; employees may coordinate call shifts with one another
• May be required to float to Endoscopy if not needed in Surgery
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an RN circulator
• Driver's license address must be outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Driver's license copy required for consideration
• Two supervisor/peer references required for consideration (at least one supervisor reference; if permanently employed within the last 12 months, one reference must be from that facility)
• Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Scrubbing is not required for RNs in this position
• Scrubs are provided through the surgery department vending machine
• Orientation consists of 2–4 shifts on the unit
• Rotational on-call requirements apply for holidays
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
• Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without a 2-year break
