  • Holiday coverage based on unit needs
  • Floating is required within the ER and may extend to St. Joseph's Westgate and two freestanding ERs in Litchfield Park and Glendale (approximately 30 minutes apart); mid-shift floating is possible
  • Orientation consists of 2–3 shifts on the floor

Requirements

  • Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS — all must be active; pending certifications are not accepted; ENPC may not substitute for PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • At least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience required
  • Ability to read cardiac monitor strips (Phillips monitors)
  • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer confirmation; 2 attempts allowed

  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address
  • Personal vehicle required for floating between facilities

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care to a high-acuity trauma, cardiac, and neurological patient population
  • Must demonstrate competency in sterile technique; a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment on Day 1 of orientation covers Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion — nurses have been released during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field
  • A pass/fail exam is also administered on Day 1 of orientation
  • Additional orientation modules cover lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only, not pass/fail)
  • Candidates who fail the Relias DYS exam or the sterile technique test on both attempts will be ineligible to work at CommonSpirit Arizona and Sacramento-region facilities for 6 months
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates previously placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
  • Navy scrubs required
  • First-time travelers are not mentioned as eligible for this position given the experience and trauma level requirements
