Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN for a night shift travel contract at a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and both MO and KS RN licenses in hand.

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Patient population includes pulmonary, wound care, urology, general cardiac, general neuro, and general renal diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:5, with occasional flex to 1:6 based on unit needs
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period (any combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
• Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• Charting via Epic
• Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, heparin and PCA protocols, chest tube management (Emerson/Pleur-evac), non-invasive airway management, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
• Preferred skills include management of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response teams, feeding tube care, renal failure management, CVA care, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, surgical drains, and tracheostomy management
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license for both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas required in hand at time of consideration — unwillingness to hold both licenses may result in cancellation
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/telemetry specialty experience required
• At least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months, with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
• Epic EMR experience
• 2 professional references required: at least one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• SSN required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Holiday shift coverage required as assigned by the unit
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract, with 1 RTO request allowed
• Orientation modules averaging 10–15 hours are required as part of compliance and must be completed prior to the start date
• Navy scrubs required
