Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and proficiency in ventilator respiratory support.

Details

• Level IV NICU (2nd highest designation in the state) within a 152-bed pediatric children's hospital connected to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery
• NICU has 70 beds with a typical census of around 50 patients, all in private rooms with overflow capability for Level II Nursery feeders/growers
• Patient population includes premature infants as young as 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE
• 12-hour night shifts, with hours of either 0700–1930 or 1900–0730
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required; occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
• Block scheduling may be available but is not guaranteed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Occasional floating to the ER to act as a sitter, though rare
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active WA state RN license or compact license currently in hand or pending (proof of pending application required)
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of Level III or IV NICU experience required
• Proficiency with respiratory support including mechanical ventilation is required
• Experience with g-tubes, NG/OG tubes, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, care planning, and discharge-to-home coordination
• Tracheostomy experience highly preferred but not required
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Preferred experience includes care of surgical NICU patients and patients with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE)
• One reference is required for initial consideration; a second supervisor-level or above reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, etc.) will be required prior to start
• First-time travelers will be considered, though prior travel experience is strongly preferred
• Any scrub color is acceptable
