Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level 1 Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of PACU experience and an active IN or Compact RN license.
Details
- Phase I PACU unit within a Level 1 Trauma Center, open and staffed 24/7
- Receives patients from all surgical specialties except open heart surgery, which goes directly to the ICU
- Average daily census of 65-85 patients
- Cares for a high-acuity patient population including neuro, ortho, PV, thoracic, urology, gyn, plastics, and pediatric surgical patients
- Handles intubated and ventilated patients requiring respiratory care
- Day shift schedule with options including 3x12s or 4x12s (11:00-23:30) or 4x10s (11:00-21:30)
- Call requirement of approximately 12-24 hours within a 6-week schedule block
- Required to work or take call on any holiday occurring during the contract, including 1 holiday shift
- 100% floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals
- Cerner charting system used
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license required (must be in hand prior to start, or temporary license may be obtainable once permanent application is submitted)
- BLS, ACLS required; PALS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required
- Level 1 Trauma Center experience required
- ICU/PCU experience preferred
- Cerner charting experience required
- Experience with surgical services including neuro, ortho, PV, thoracic, urology, gyn, plastics, intubated patients, and peds
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Nursing degree must be from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- 2 supervisor references required
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide post-anesthesia care to a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical patient population in a large hospital setting
- Must be comfortable working in a large, fast-paced facility with many critical care patients, especially neuro cases
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Any former permanent or PRN employee of the health system must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility: 3 months for out-of-state residents or 6 months for in-state residents
- RTO of 5 days or less (non-holiday) can be auto-approved; additional time off requires facility approval
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Indiana residents are considered local and may be offered a lower, in-state pay rate for this Surgical Services position
- Effective 11/30/24, IN-licensed RNs are restricted from working at this facility, though PACU and other Periop/OR positions are exempt from this rule
