Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel CVOR RN for a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois, requiring a minimum of 3 years of OR/CVOR experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- CVOR unit within a 562-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Average daily census of 10 across 4 OR rooms
- Cardiovascular surgical cases include: Aortic Aneurysm repair, CABG, ECMO, Femoral Cannulation, IABP, LVAD, MAZE Procedure, Mitral Valve Replacement, PDA, Pericardial Window, TAVR, and ASD (adult) repair
- Vascular surgical cases include: AAA repair, AV Fistula repair, Atherectomy, Carotid Endarterectomy, EVAR, Femoral-Popliteal Bypass Graft, and Vein Stripping
- Thoracic surgical cases include: Laparoscopic-assisted cases, Lobe Resection, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracotomy, and VATS
- Endoscopic procedure cases include: Bronchoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic-assisted cases, PEG Tube Placement/Exchange
- Whipple procedure experience is required
- Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts (6:15 AM – 4:45 PM)
- Rotational weekend on-call required, plus at least one on-call night and one to two late nights per week
- Floating within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals is required of all travelers
- Charting is performed in Cerner
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Free parking is available on-site with a permit obtained during orientation
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required; candidates actively in the application process will also be considered
- Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
- ACLS certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of CVOR or main OR experience required; trauma or MOR background considered
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Level II Trauma (or higher) experience required
- Proficiency in scrubbing cardiovascular, vascular, thoracic, and endoscopic surgical cases required
- Skills required: Laser Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time Out) Procedure
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside 50 miles or more from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not accepted
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- RTO is ideally limited to no more than 5 days; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
- All required certifications must be active and in hand at time of consideration
