Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position at a Level III trauma center, requiring a minimum of 3 years of high-acuity ED experience and a full suite of emergency certifications.
Details
- Work in a 34-bed Emergency Department at a 226-bed Level III non-profit community hospital
- Department sees 200–250 ED patients per day, making it one of the busiest EDs in the state
- Patient population spans neonate to geriatric, including pediatric medical and trauma, stroke (TNK administration), cardiac (cath lab), behavioral health, substance use disorder, and multi-system trauma cases
- ED is organized into zones, including a 13-bed fast track 'green zone'
- Patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a); mid and evening shift options also available
- Every other weekend rotation required; back-to-back weekends possible on rare occasion
- No floating or on-call requirements
- EMR: Epic (required)
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license required
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience in a large-volume, high-acuity ED
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS
- Epic EMR experience required
- Triage experience required; must pass the facility's Triage Test prior to triaging independently
- Proficiency with barcode scanning medication administration, medication drip management, and blood product administration
- Ability to set up chest tubes and arterial lines, assist with trauma and code cases, perform splinting, and manage BiPAP/ventilators
- Strong understanding of the ESI triage system
- Pediatric emergency medicine experience highly preferred
- Point-of-care lab experience is a plus
- At least one supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required for consideration; a second reference will be required prior to start
Additional Information
- Provide high-acuity emergency nursing care across a diverse patient population, including stabilization and transfer coordination for neurosurgery, multi-system trauma, and high-acuity pediatric cases
- Must complete the facility's clinical interview and unit review process (SimpliFi) as part of the hiring workflow
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Scrubs must be any solid color with no logos
