Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a 337-bed hospital in Charlotte, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Work in a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit at a 337-bed hospital in Charlotte, NC
- Patient population includes stroke, seizure, AMS, generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5–6 on days and nights, with potential surge ratios of up to 1:7–8
- Unit uses Epic EMR (experience required), Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- No remote telemetry monitoring — charge nurse, clinical supervisor, and staff are responsible for reading and posting telemetry every shift
- 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week, starting at 0700
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Floating required within Region 2, which includes Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — do not apply if unwilling to float to all listed facilities
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation required
- Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone) required
- General medical/surgical skillset required
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN is required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
Additional Information
- Unit support includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a receptionist/HUC, a free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, 24/7 IV/VAT team, a unit-dedicated pharmacist, 2 case managers, a MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy (including nebulizer treatments), a nurse educator, 24/7 hospitalist coverage, and APP support
- Orientation includes a nursing education orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
- A clinical interview is required for this position
