Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in Charlotte, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a willingness to float across multiple regional facilities.
Details
- Works in an Acute Decision and Treatment Unit (ADTU), a 12-bed Med/Tele overflow area supporting all inpatient units and ED holding
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, chest pain workup, stroke symptoms, and respiratory issues
- Patient ratio is 1:5–6 RNs, with surge ratios up to 1:7–8; CNA ratio is 1:6–12
- Performs procedures including cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley)
- Manages medication drips including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
- EMR: Epic (experience required); IV pump: Alaris; med dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
- 12-hour night shifts starting at 7 PM, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating is required to all units within scope at the home facility, as well as to other facilities within the assigned regional division as needed
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- General Med/Tele skillset required, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and management of drips and drains
- Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Departmental support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, an IV/VAT team (11 AM–7 PM and 11 PM–7 AM), respiratory therapy (24/7), and hospitalist/intensivist coverage
- Orientation consists of a NEO session followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract
- Schedule is posted on a 6-week cycle
- Navy scrubs required
- Parking is complimentary
- Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- First-time travelers are not preferred but will be considered
- Must be willing to float to all facilities within the assigned regional division — candidates who are not agreeable should not apply
