Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CV Surgery ICU position requiring 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience and MN RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the CV Surgery ICU of a hospital environment
  • 13-week assignment at 36 hours per week
  • Day/Night Rotation (0700-1930 and 1900-0730) and Straight Nights (1900-0730) schedules available
  • Required to work every third weekend
  • Floating required as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Cardiac monitoring/telemetry equipment used with strip-reading required

Requirements

  • Active MN RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • 2 years of recent acute care ICU nursing experience required
  • CVS ICU experience preferred
  • 6 months of required travel experience, with 1 year of recent travel experience preferred, and/or 3 total travel assignments
  • Must pass an ECG exam during orientation to continue the assignment
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring/telemetry and strip interpretation required
  • Experience with VAD, Impella, ECMO, and balloon pumps preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate, associate, or diploma nursing program (ACEN or CCNE); additional experience requirements apply if program was not accredited or graduation was not recent

Additional Information

  • Coordinate nursing care including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care
  • Function within a professional nursing practice model, accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care
  • Provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, and resource availability
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and teaching skills required
  • COVID vaccination and booster required for eligibility
  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week assignment due to low census
  • Travelers may remain on assignment up to one calendar year from initial start date, after which a 30-60 day break is required before returning to a new assignment
  • On-site work required with no teleworking option
