Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and high-risk OB skills, located in Asheville, NC.
Details
- Labor & Delivery unit in a hospital setting, located on the 4th floor of the G Tower
- 16-bed unit staffed with RNs, Charge Nurses, PCTs, and CSTs on both day and night shifts
- Patient population includes high-risk obstetric patients requiring immediate newborn care
- Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
- Procedures performed include vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&C, cerclage, and C-Hyst
- Equipment used includes Baxter pumps and Philips electronic fetal monitoring
- EMR system: Cerner and Fetal Ink
- Day shift hours: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Floating may be required to MFMU, MOMB, and NICU
- Weekend work is not required but available upon approval
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- Required certifications: BLS or ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted), NRP Advanced 9th Edition, and intermediate or advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification or NCCEFM
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- High-risk OB experience required
- Immediate newborn care experience required
- Circulating experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include performing vaginal deliveries, assisting with C-sections, and providing immediate newborn care
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start date

- The hospital serves as the region's referral center and includes a Level III NICU and a Level II trauma center
