Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Oncology unit position in Dallas, TX, requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience and ONC certification.
Details
- Medical Oncology unit located on floors 9 and 10 of the South Tower, a 41-bed inpatient setting
- Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Patient ratio is estimated at 4:1, with a maximum of 5:1
- Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, up to 5 RNs, and 2 PCTs per floor
- Common procedures include daily blood and electrolyte replacement and sterile dressing changes
- Baxter infusion pumps are used on the unit
- EMR system is Meditech
- Rotating weekend coverage required
Requirements
- Active TX RN license or Compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- ONS Chemotherapy (ONC) certification required for all oncology RNs
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in oncology required
- Strong competency in sterile dressing changes and infection prevention protocols
- Solid understanding of blood and electrolyte replacement processes
- US SSN and date of birth required for consideration — Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- One professional reference required (candidates from Florida or Missouri must provide two references)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- Preferred skills include general medical oncology knowledge and familiarity with ports and central lines
- A team-centered approach is the ideal personality fit for this unit
- Royal blue scrubs monogrammed with the hospital name are required; hospital-approved jackets are permitted
- Floating may be required as part of this assignment
