Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV NICU position at a pediatric hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience and proficiency with ventilator respiratory support.
Details
- Level IV NICU (2nd highest level in the state) within a 152-bed children's hospital connected to an adult hospital with high-risk labor and delivery
- The NICU has 70 beds with a typical census of around 50 patients in private rooms, with overflow of Level II Nursery for feeders/growers
- Patient population includes premature infants down to 22 weeks gestation, RDS, high-risk deliveries, feeders/growers, and NAS; preferred experience with surgical patients and HIE (Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy)
- Key skills include respiratory support for vents, g-tubes, NG/OG, NCPAP, UAC/UVC management, PICC lines, medication administration, care planning, and discharge to home
- Tracheostomy (trach) experience is highly preferred but not required
- Charting is performed in Epic (EMR)
- 12-hour night shifts (1900–0730)
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required, with occasional back-to-back weekends possible but rare
- Floating may occasionally be required to the ER in a sitter capacity, but is rare
- No on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WA state RN license or compact license currently in hand or pending (proof of application required if pending)
- Current certifications: BLS and NRP
- Minimum 2 years of Level III-IV NICU experience required
- Proficiency with ventilator respiratory support is required
- One supervisor-level reference required for initial consideration; a second supervisor-level reference (Charge Nurse, Manager, Director, or above) required prior to start
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will be considered, though travel experience is strongly preferred
- Block scheduling is possible but not guaranteed
- Any scrub color is acceptable
