Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Transplant OR RN for a 13-week travel assignment at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of transplant experience and an active IN or compact RN license.

Details

• Specialized transplant OR unit focused exclusively on abdominal transplants, including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral procedures
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00–19:30
• Weekend shifts preferred
• On-call required: approximately 40–60 hours per 6-week period
• Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals; multi-specialty, all surgeries
• Charting performed in Cerner (experience required)
• Short-term acute care hospital setting

Requirements

• Active IN or compact RN license in hand at time of start; temp license accepted
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Regulatory charting for transplants certification required
• Minimum 2 years of strong transplant OR experience required
• Specific experience with kidney and liver transplants required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• RN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have at least 2 years of strong transplant OR experience
• Indiana residents are not eligible for this position effective March 1, 2026
• Candidates must be available to provide 2–3 days of interview availability
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment
• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved
• Any permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break in IU Health employment before applying as a traveler
• IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; in-state residents require a 180-day break
• Parking is complimentary
