Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position at a short-term acute care hospital, requiring telemetry and cardiac experience with night shift availability.
Details
- Short-term acute care hospital setting with 194 staffed beds
- Cardiac and Medical PCU — true ICU stepdown unit
- Patient population includes heart cath, BiPAP, and cardiac and vasoactive drip cases (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio) with PCU crisis criteria
- Night shift: 4x12-hour shifts, 18:00–06:30
- Charting in Cerner (experience required)
- Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate facility
- No on-call responsibilities
- Travel pairs are not accepted for this unit
Requirements
- Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted); NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
- Minimum 18 months of RN experience required
- Telemetry, IV starts, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen experience required
- Trauma level experience (Level I, II, III, or IV) required
- Ventilator management, charge nurse experience, and conscious sedation experience preferred
- RN degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program required
- 2 supervisor references required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration

- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this position
- Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Up to 5 days of RTO may be auto-approved
- Former permanent or PRN employees of IU Health must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
- Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are subject to a consecutive break period to reset travel eligibility: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break; Indiana residents require a 180-day break
