Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma Center requiring active OR licensure and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting, Magnet-designated and Level II Trauma Center with 569 staffed beds
• Surgical Neuro Trauma Care Unit (SNTCU), a 30-bed unit serving patients with a wide variety of surgical and neurological trauma conditions
• Patient ratio of 1:4 RN
• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 36 or 48 hours per week available
• 13-week contract with potential to extend beyond 13 weeks
• Every other weekend required
• Floating may be required to meet facility needs, including to a nearby sister hospital
• Charting via Epic (required, no exceptions)
• Free parking on-site

Requirements

• Active OR RN license required — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS certification through AHA required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele/PCU experience within the last 3 years required; neuro trauma stepdown experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Demonstrated telemetry management skills required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Experience with cardiac drips (e.g., nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU-level drips) required
• Proficiency in O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care, and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with rapid response team activation required
• IV start experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• COVID vaccination required — no exemptions

Additional Information

• The SNTCU opened in July 2022 in a newly built expansion tower and is evolving toward a Surgical Neuro Trauma ICU/IMCU designation
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restriction
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO requests after submission cannot be accommodated and may result in cancellation
• RTO exceeding 2 weeks requires client approval
• Former staff must have been away for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Block scheduling is not available
