Details
- Float pool position within women's services, rotating across Labor & Delivery, antepartum, and postpartum units at facilities in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa — all approximately 20 minutes apart and easily accessible from the interstate
- Travelers will be first to float and may be reassigned mid-shift to different units or facilities based on need; unit assignment is communicated via app approximately 1 hour before shift start
- Patient population includes antepartum patients at 22+ weeks gestation, high-risk L&D cases (PPROM, placenta previa, pre-eclampsia, diabetes, twin gestations), and full postpartum couplet care
- AWHONN staffing guidelines followed; postpartum couplet care ratio is 1:6
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Pitocin (1–40 mL/units), insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Fetal monitoring strips are read by RNs; cardiac telemetry strips are read by tele techs when applicable
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
- 13-week contract, night shift, 12-hour shifts (7p–7a)
- Schedule is 4x12s; no self-scheduling — shift trades allowed with manager approval, and RTO requests must be submitted upfront
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call or standby requirement
Requirements
- Active ID or compact RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Required certifications (all must be active; AHA or ARC accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, and STABLE
- Minimum 3 years of L&D, postpartum, and antepartum experience required
- Experience in all three areas — L&D, postpartum, and antepartum — is required; OR circulating experience preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently within chain of command are essential
- 2 professional references required for consideration: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- RNs perform full couplet care assignments in postpartum, including car seat studies, and manage high-risk antepartum and L&D patients independently
- RNs are not required to circulate for C-sections, though OR circulating experience is preferred; NICU staff attend all deliveries as a resource
- OB laborist and neonatologist available 24/7, with dedicated CRNA anesthesia coverage 24/7
- Surgical techs are available on some shifts; support staff presence varies by unit and time of day
- Orientation consists of approximately 4–5 shifts, with at least one shift at each facility site and coverage of L&D, antepartum, and OR areas
- Unit management is not physically on-site; travelers are expected to use chain of command, know their resources, and communicate proactively
- Scrubs are provided
- Holiday scheduling for travelers is rare but may occasionally be required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — no local candidates accepted
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
