Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Float Pool position at a Level II Trauma facility, requiring 3 years of experience across ER, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health units with night shift availability.

- Acute care hospital setting at a Level II Trauma facility
- Float Pool position covering ER, ICU, PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health (Adult Acute, Youth Acute, and Addiction Recovery) units
- Unit bed capacity ranges from 21–35 beds depending on the unit assigned
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit: ICU 1:1–2, PCU 1:3–4, Med/Surg and ED-boarded Med/Surg 1:5–6, Behavioral Health 1:5–6
- Candidates should expect to spend the majority of time in Med/Surg and Behavioral Health, while remaining eligible to float to ER and ICU
- Float assignments are determined prior to shift; mid-shift floating is also possible when needed
- 12-hour night shifts
- EMR: Epic experience required
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license for the state of Idaho or a Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- BSN required (ASN may be considered if all experience requirements are fully met)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in each of the following areas: ER, ICU at a Trauma Level II facility (must be within the last 2 years), PCU, Med/Surg, and Behavioral Health/Psych (adult acute, youth acute, and addiction recovery)
- Experience with cardiac drips required
- Experience with non-invasive ventilation required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Department of Health & Welfare Background Fingerprinting required
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) is a hospital-wide float department serving multiple service lines; nurses must demonstrate strong time management and adaptability across diverse care settings
- Care responsibilities include applying the nursing process across a wide range of patient populations, promoting patient safety, and delivering relationship-based, culturally competent care
- Nurses engage in inter-professional team collaboration, evidence-based practice, and use of health information technology to support clinical decision-making
- Float RNs are given a consistent schedule and are notified of their assigned unit approximately 2 hours before their shift begins
- Department of Health & Welfare Background Fingerprinting must be completed as part of onboarding
