Description
American Traveler is hiring a Cardiac Interventional Radiology Technologist with at least 1 year of Cath Lab experience and required proficiency in Epic and MERGE for a Mon–Fri day shift position.
Details
- Hospital setting with 174 licensed beds, designated as a Stroke Center and part of a Chest Pain Network
- Unit includes 7 prep/recovery bays, 1 Cath Lab, and 1 IR Lab
- Cardiac patient population including cardiac catheterization, device placement, and heavy vascular cases
- Common procedures include right and left heart cath with intervention (primarily radial, some femoral), pericardiocentesis, pacemaker and defibrillator insertion/manipulation, ports, PICCs, arteriograms, nephrostomy tubes, Hickman lines, lower extremity angiograms, fistulagram, PE/DVT/thrombolytics, venograms, and fistula creation
- Typical daily flow includes 2–3 cath cases in the morning; afternoon Cath Lab time may be used for procedural/IR overflow
- EMR: Epic/Encompass (required) and MERGE (required)
- Additional equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Merge Hemo, Siemens X-ray, and Balloon pumps (occasional)
- 8-hour day shifts, Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30/5:00 PM
- No weekend rotation and no on-call requirements
- Facility is closed on major holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day
- No floating required
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Tech experience, with most recent experience within the last year
- Active BLS and ACLS required
- ARRT or RCIS certification required
- Active license required, if applicable
- Proficiency with Epic/Encompass and MERGE required — candidates without this experience will not be considered
- Comfortable scrubbing and recording in cardiac cath, vascular, and IR procedures
- 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Candidate's permanent address must be located 50+ miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered; at least one completed 13-week travel assignment is required
- Candidates who have previously worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
- RNs circulate all cases — technologists are not required to circulate
- Department team includes Cath Lab leadership, a Nursing Supervisor, Charge RN, RNs, RTRs, and RCIS-trained staff (~20 total)
- Orientation includes 1 day of facility NEO, 2 days of departmental orientation, and assigned ARLs to be completed within 30–45 days
- Time off requests require manager approval
- Scrubs are provided
