Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring Level III/IV NICU experience and an active OH or Compact RN license.
Details
- , atal ICU (NICU) unit of a children's hospital
- Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 13-week assignment length
- Patient population includes neonates ranging from under 24 weeks to over 34 weeks gestation
- Uses Epic charting system
- Floating required to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, medical-surgical units, and rarely the ED
- Floating required to the BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU, caring for patients with average length of stay of 2-3 years requiring frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
- Floating may be required to additional campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
- Attends high-risk deliveries
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license required in hand
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- PALS certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year of Level IV NICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required, at least one from a manager or supervisor
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia (cooling blanket) and management of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
- Experience with tracheostomy care and management
- Experience assisting with lumbar puncture and ICP monitoring preferred
- Experience with ECMO preferred
- Experience with VP shunt management preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including administration of emergency medications, surfactants, and anti-seizure medications
- Manage complex respiratory needs including suctioning, chest tube management, and nitric oxide therapy
- Support gastrointestinal care including tube feedings, breastfeeding support, and management of NEC and gastroschisis/omphalocele
- Monitor and manage cardiovascular conditions including dysrhythmia interpretation and pre-cardiac surgery care
- Provide infectious disease care including sepsis work-up and isolation precautions
- Perform thermoregulation and endocrine/metabolic care including blood glucose monitoring and phototherapy
- Two-part interview process including an initial screening with the Float Pool Leader followed by a unit manager interview
- Candidates cannot have been employed permanently by the facility within the last 2 years
- Local candidates are not accepted within a 60-mile radius
- Floating is a significant and consistent requirement across most assignments at this facility
