Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Inpatient Care Coordinator for a 13-week travel assignment requiring an active Alaska RN license and a minimum of 8 years of clinical nursing experience.
Details
- Inpatient care coordination role within a hospital setting
- Subspecialty focus in care management, utilization management (UM), and discharge care planning (DCP)
- Caseload involves reviewing and managing hospitalized patients' progression of care, including admissions to outside facilities under a Purchased/Referred Care Services program
- Shift details to be discussed at interview
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active Alaska RN license currently in hand at time of consideration
- BSN required
- Minimum 8 years of clinical care or nursing experience, with at least 3 years in chart review, risk management, or a related quality service role
- BLS certification required
- Case Management certification from a recognized certifying organization (e.g., NCQA, CCMC) preferred
- Knowledge of medical necessity review, ICD-9 and CPT coding, and CMS regulations
- Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease concepts
- Strong written, oral communication, and organizational skills
- Flu vaccine required
- DOB and SSN may be required for consideration
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include reviewing patient records, monitoring appropriateness of hospitalization and length of stay, validating physician orders, and facilitating discharge planning
- Collaborates with physicians, hospital leadership, and clinical care teams to ensure cost-effective, evidence-based, and regulatory-compliant care delivery
- Communicates with payers, processes denial appeals, and maintains utilization review and appeal logs
- Supports quality improvement initiatives, including tumor registry functions
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities
- Due to fingerprint card processing requirements, start date will be no less than 6 weeks after fingerprint cards are received at the facility — candidates should be prepared to complete fingerprinting and mail cards within 2–3 days of acceptance to avoid delays
