Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a travel ICU position at a Level IV Trauma Center in Sheboygan, WI, requiring ACLS, NIHSS, and ventilator experience on a 12-hour day shift schedule.

Details

• Work in an 11-bed ICU at a 101-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
• Lower acuity ICU serving a general patient population including stroke (TNK), COVID, medical, surgical, behavioral health, overdose, post cardiac arrest, and ventilator-dependent patients
• Patient ratio is 1:2–3 based on acuity
• Specialized skills utilized include ventilator management, chest tubes, trachs, central line management, proning, and bedside/nursing station telemetry monitoring
• Charting via Epic; Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system used on unit
• 12-hour day shift, 0645–1915, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• Float rotation to the Cardiac unit required
• On-call schedule varies based on unit needs
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2–3 years of ICU experience preferred; at least 12 months of core ICU experience required with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency with ventilators, chest tubes, trachs, central line management, proning, and telemetry strip interpretation
• Epic EMR experience
• 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN dated within the past year required for consideration
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit support includes CNAs (1:7 ratio), phlebotomy available for peripheral draws, IV/VAT team available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during day shift, Respiratory Therapy 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, Intensivist on-site 0600–1800 with eICU coverage 1800–0600, and an ICU Educator; no HUC or Resource Nurse on unit
• Charge nurse takes a patient assignment
• Orientation consists of one shift to learn unit flow
• OT, PT, and ST available on weekdays with variable availability on weekends
• Professional scrubs in any color are acceptable
• Free parking available in designated areas
• First-time travelers are considered on a case-by-case basis
• Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions apply
• Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the assignment
