Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Case Manager for a 13-week travel assignment at an acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Tacoma, WA, with a Monday–Friday day schedule and a minimum of 2 years of case management experience required.
Details
- Freestanding, 60-bed inpatient acute rehabilitation hospital setting
- Utilization Review department focused on IRF (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility) level of care
- Patient population includes adults with acute rehab diagnoses, most commonly stroke, as well as multiple medical debilitation, post-surgical cases, and other conditions meeting IRF criteria
- Patient caseload ratio of approximately 1:15
- Average patient length of stay is approximately 12 days
- EMR systems used: UDS PRO, Meditech, and Pinpoint
- Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with no weekend or on-call requirements
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active WA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
- AHA certifications required (e.g., BLS)
- Social Security number and date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 2 years of case management experience required
- Utilization review experience required
- Experience with adult acute hospital or acute rehabilitation settings required
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English required
- Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills required
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for this travel position
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include utilization review, supporting IRF team and family conferences, coordinating with nursing, therapy, physicians, and families, and managing discharge planning for an average LOS of ~12 days
- Training will be provided for IRF team conference requirements
- Case management certification is preferred (e.g., CCM, ACM, ARN, or ANCC RN-BC)
- 2–3+ years of CM experience preferred, though open to discussion based on individual background
- Ability to balance patient advocacy with resource stewardship, including professional communication around challenging insurance and healthcare discussions
- Business casual / hospital professional attire required (no specific scrub color)
- Candidates must not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
- Candidates cannot be employed full-time elsewhere during this assignment
