Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position in Hawaii requiring at least 2 years of critical care experience and active HI licensure by start date.
Details
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
- Cares for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery following surgery
- Equipment used includes Meditech EMR, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
- Variable shifts ranging between 8, 10, and 12 hours across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Shifts may rotate between the ASU and PACU units
- On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour nights and 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active HI RN license required by start of assignment
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years in a critical care setting (ER or ICU) may be accepted as a substitute
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and PALS
- Strong critical care assessment skills, including monitoring incision sites, body temperature, and post-anesthesia stability indicators
- Experience with Meditech preferred
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for patients in pre-op and Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery
- Advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-surgical patient care is essential
- Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical or religious exemption is required prior to start; vaccination can be administered at the employee health clearance appointment
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to their assignment start date; plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend a Friday morning Employee Health appointment
- Specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be required
