Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience and at least 2 prior travel assignments.
Details
- Work in a 32-bed cardiovascular surgical step-down unit (CVPCU) within a large academic hospital setting
- Unit is divided between 12 IMC beds with continuous cardiac monitoring and 20 telemetry or non-monitored floor-level beds
- Patient population consists of post-operative cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients, including those 1+ days out from CABG, valve repairs, and valve replacements
- Clinicians also care for patients with Mechanical Circulatory Support devices (e.g., LVADs) and those recovering from heart and lung transplants
- High-acuity IMC patient management is required
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:3 on days and 1:4 on nights
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts)
- 13-week contract
- EMR: Epic (experience required)
Requirements
- Active RN license — Maryland or Compact license required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Critical Care Certification (e.g., CCRN) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac open heart recovery experience required
- Strong Surgical IMC experience required
- ICU experience required for management of high-acuity IMC patients
- At least 2 prior travel assignments required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience at a 500+ bed facility required
Additional Information
- Fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment specializing in cardiac and vascular surgical recovery
- Orientation sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- One professional reference required for consideration
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
