Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown/ED Surge position requiring a strong PCU background, ACLS, and drip titration experience for night shifts on a 13-week contract.
Details
- Work is performed in the ED unit, specifically caring for inpatient and CICU-level holds within the ED setting
- Patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as chest pain, syncope, heart failure, and post-cath with stent placement, as well as medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic overflow cases
- Additional diagnoses include sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
- Specialized procedures include ICD/pacemaker insertions and cardioversions
- Requires management and titration of drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
- Equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, and Philips Monitoring System
- EMR system is Epic
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend required
- Floating to similar units may be required; travelers will not be assigned patients outside their clinical scope
Requirements
- Active NH or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS
- EKG test required upon arrival
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with a strong PCU background within the last year
- ED experience preferred but not required
- Drip management and titration experience required
- Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency are eligible to apply; first-time travelers with only 1 year of experience will not be considered
- Care model follows a Helping Hands/Team Nursing approach
- All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial application
