Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a Level 3 Trauma hospital, requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details
- Work on a 32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
- Cares for patients with stroke, respiratory illness, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, and wound care needs
- RN patient ratio typically 1:5-6, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
- 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- Possible low census call back, up to 0300 for nights and 1500 for days
- Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, and Central Division facilities including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed within scope of practice
- Uses Epic EMR
- Unit utilizes virtual nursing technology (VNO) with 10 cameras for medication witnessing, monitoring, and admission/discharge support
- Support staff includes CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
- Core Med/Tele skills required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drip management (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
- 2-day departmental orientation in addition to standard new employee orientation
- Expected to work 75% of holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
- Navy scrub color required
- Free parking available on-site
- Unit culture described as collaborative, patient-centered, and supportive
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; a 50-mile radius rule applies for eligibility
- Previous AHSE employees must be separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before eligibility
