Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Labor & Delivery travel assignment in Redding, CA, requiring active CA licensure, Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification, and night shift availability.
Details
- Acute care hospital setting within a Family Birth Center (L&D unit) at a Level II trauma facility with a Level III NICU on-site
- Unit consists of 19 postpartum beds, 12 L&D beds, 2 ORs, and 1 PACU
- Handles both low- and high-risk deliveries; patients with known congenital defects requiring immediate surgery are transferred out
- Patient ratios follow California state standards (1:4 to 1:1 depending on acuity)
- Charting via Cerner EMR and Fetal Link for fetal heart rate surveillance (Phillips FHM system)
- 12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Every other weekend required; weekend shifts fall on Fri/Sat nights
- Float requirement: travelers float first, with possible float to Peds (postpartum couplets) or NICU (feeders and growers only, if experience is present)
- No ventilator management required
- A laborist (OB physician) is in-house 24/7; RT and pharmacy available 24/7
- No IV team or telemetry monitoring on this unit
- OB techs handle scrubbing and desk coverage; no nurse aides
Requirements
- Active CA RN license (must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required
- Required certifications (all must be active; no pending certifications accepted): BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (Adv-AWHONN)
- COVID vaccination required
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to an offer being confirmed; contact your recruiter to have the exam sent
- On the first day of orientation, nurses will take a pass/fail onsite proctored test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Unit-specific orientation is 2–3 shifts depending on circulating experience; circulating is not required
- Scrubs are provided by the hospital
- Holiday coverage is integrated into the permanent staff rotation
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Peak census periods are in July and October
