Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring 2 years of experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit at a short-term acute care Magnet and Level I Trauma teaching hospital with 1,266 staffed beds
- Cares for patients awaiting inpatient bed placement, bridging care from the Emergency Department until a bed becomes available
- Patient ratio of 1:4–5
- Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, blood product administration, central line care and management, phlebotomy, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCA, thrombolytic agents, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma and traction management, and oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks)
- Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within the service line required to meet facility needs
- Charting performed in Epic (experience required)
- Navy blue scrubs required
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of RN Med/Surg Tele experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to assignment
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Travelers may work either 36 or 48 hours per week
- RTO is limited to no more than 5 days (40 hours) per contract, with a maximum of 2 separate requests; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain at the facility for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Parking passes are available for purchase through Public Safety at various nearby lots and garages ranging from approximately $63–$73/month; night shift workers park at no charge in employee parking
