Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Details
- Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a large, short-term acute care hospital (1,266 staffed beds)
- Cares for patients transitioning from the ED while awaiting inpatient bed placement
- Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4–5
- Specialized procedures include EKG/dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insulin protocols, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), blood product administration, pre/post hemodialysis management, PCA, thrombolytics, feeding tube care, port access, central line care, PICC line management, phlebotomy, and peripheral IV placement
- Manages patients on substance withdrawal protocols and ortho/trauma traction
- Oxygen delivery management including nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks, as well as isolation precautions
- Charting in Epic (experience required)
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the service line as needed
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or compact RN license valid in Missouri required at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must pass a Relias EKG exam prior to starting
- Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and academic teaching hospital
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Parking passes are available for purchase through the facility's Public Safety department; night shift workers park at no charge
- RTO is limited to a maximum of 5 days (40 hours) per contract, with no more than 2 RTO requests
- Travelers may remain at this health system for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Former permanent employees of this health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
