Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab/EP position in an outpatient cardiac setting, requiring at least 2 years of relevant experience and sheath pull and cardiac medication skills.

Details

  • Outpatient cardiac unit handling pre- and post-procedure care for cardiac cath, EP, and radiology patients
  • Responsibilities include patient check-in, IV placement, consent, pre-procedure medications, and Epic intake questionnaire
  • Post-procedure management of cath/EP and radiology patients, including access site care for arterial and venous sites (femoral and radial)
  • Procedures include post-PCI same-day discharges (DAPT and post-cath care), EP post-device cases, ablations, and post-biopsy radiology procedures
  • Uses Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR for medication administration, documentation, and communication
  • Epic experience required
  • 4x9 rotating day shift schedule with shift options: 0600–1500, 0700–1600, 0800–1700, or 1200–2000
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • Floating required to cardiac units
  • 13- or 26-week contracts available

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required; 3 years of pre/post cath lab experience preferred
  • Sheath pull experience required
  • Cardiac medication experience required
  • Pulmonary artery line and triage experience required
  • Pre/post cath lab procedure experience required
  • Two professional references from a manager or supervisor within the past 12 months preferred at time of consideration
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

  • Orientation is approximately 24 hours, conducted on a weekly schedule
  • Pre-start modules are required (approximately 8–10 hours for acute care roles) and must be completed annually; modules are completed via online learning, Zoom, webinar, and in-person classes
  • Candidates who were previously employed by Novant Health or New Hanover (permanent, PRN, or EP staff) must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler; facility rehire approval is required
  • Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved, provided it does not fall on a holiday; no RTO is permitted during the first week of the assignment
  • Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
  • Travel pairs are allowed, provided each traveler has their own transportation and is flexible with different schedules
  • Any color scrubs are acceptable
  • Charge nurse and conscious sedation experience are preferred
  • Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted
